Reasons why she was tone-deaf:

  1. She didn't have a singing voice
  2. no alto, no soprano, no contralto, no mezzo-soprano
  3. She never knew how to sing
  4. She wasn't really a session singer
  5. She couldn't harmonize with anybody else
  6. No singing skills she had

I never like Kathy Redfern, because was an idiot ruining the midsection of 10cc's serious pop ballad, "I'm Not in Love" by telling Eric Stewart to be quiet in a disruptive manner for no reason at all and started to annoy that midsection with her stupid, annoying, repulsive, distracting big-boys-don't-cry interlude to cause an outrageous commotion that spoiled up the song like this: I cannot stand that racket going: Big boys don't cry Big boys don't cry Big boys don't cry Big boys don't cry Big boys don't cry Big boys don't cry 'cause it's way too much, that ruined the heartfelt tune. “Keep Quiet, Big Boys Don’t Cry”

  Do you remember that spoiled-up, outrageous ‘big boys don’t cry’ commotion that made a mess in midsong on 10cc’s massive 1975 hit “I’m Not In Love”? Well whatever happened to that short-lived so-called spoken-word artist? Maybe the question is what short-lived spoken word artist as that vocal was recorded by the then Strawberry Studios Receptionist Kathy Redfern (although some internet sites have her surname as Warren). The song went to number one in the UK, Canada and Ireland and was taken from their 1975 top 5 album ‘The Original Soundtrack’. It was the second of the band’s three UK number ones. The others were “Rubber Bullets” in 1973 and “Dreadlock Holiday” in 1978. OK Kathy if by some wild stretch of the imagination you, or someone who knows you, is reading this post I would love to interview you for this blog.
